Stop Waiting for Permission to Bet on Yourself
Feeling stuck or unsure about where to take your business or side hustle next?
The only limits you face are the ones you set for yourself.
While living in Florida, I learned about the Highwaymen, a group of 26 Black artists who transformed rejection into a powerful legacy.
These talented painters created stunning landscapes that captured the beauty of Florida’s natural environment, showcasing vivid scenes of sunsets, palm trees, and seascapes.
Yet, in the 1950s and 60s, they faced constant rejection from galleries due to racial discrimination.
Refusing to give up, they decided to bet on themselves, selling their artwork door-to-door or out of their cars along Florida’s highways.
Against the odds, their determination paid off.
Over time, their paintings gained recognition and became highly sought after, proving incredibly valuable.
Their story is a testament to perseverance and self-belief.
It’s a reminder that no matter how many times society or circumstances may tell you "no," the combination of talent, grit, and faith in yourself can break barriers and create something truly extraordinary.
No fancy tools, endless hours, or perfect timing will matter as much as your belief in your own potential.
Growth happens when you give yourself permission to try, to fail, and to learn.
Whether it’s launching that idea you’ve been sitting on or simply doubling down on what already works, trust that you’re capable of more than you think.
Small steps add up, and sometimes, it’s just about getting out of your own way.
